EPA to Hold Public Availability Sessions Concerning Actions in Areas of North Birmingham (AL)

(ATLANTA – January 26, 2012) — The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), will hold two Availability Sessions on Monday, January 30, 2012 regarding ongoing and planned activities in Birmingham, AL. Representatives from EPA, the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM), the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) and the Jefferson County Department of Health will be available to provide information and answer questions about upcoming activities in the area.

What: Public Availability Sessions

When: Monday, January 30, 2012

1st Session – 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

2nd Session – 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.

Where: Hudson K-8 School, located at 3300 F.L. Shuttlesworth Drive North, Birmingham, AL

EPA will conduct a 30 minute presentation at the beginning of both sessions and answer general questions from community members. We encourage all interested community members to participate in this meeting.

ATTENTION: A media availability session will be held prior to the public availability session on Monday, January 30, 2012, to allow agency representatives to answer questions from the media concerning upcoming activities. The media session is scheduled from 3:30 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the Hudson K-8 School, located at 3300 F.L. Shuttlesworth Drive North, Birmingham, AL. This arrangement will allow for the public to use the entire availability session to get information and have their questions answered.
