Directors of the main French biodiversity NGOs, companies supporting biodiversity, French MEPs, MPs and local politicians joined LPO in blowing out the its 100 candles on January 26. This event is the start of a long series of celebrations and meetings around LPO’s anniversary that will happen in 2012 throughout France.

Today, after 100 years of hard efforts, actions and achievements on the ground, LPO/BirdLife in France is more determined than ever before, to work and fight for the protection of biodiversity. 

Starting from its history, and through the hard work and support of thousands of men and women, who, over the years, have for the most part worked as volunteers, LPO has shown its ability to develop an active network of people and organisations throughout the whole France, working together for the protection of birds, nature, as well as for people and their well-being. 

2012 proves to be another exciting year, with LPO staff and volunteers, representing more than 45 000 members, working together with the various LPO’s partners and sponsors, ready to face these challenges while celebrating the 100^th anniversary of their organisation with the rest of France, all through the year.

The centenary is a great opportunity for LPO to become more visible, and to spread more widely its message and values amongst the general public.
