Could say 'much ado about nothing'!

Today the World Health Organization announced that the Swine Flu Pandemic that was going to kill zillions of unsuspecting, non- vaccinated people around the world – had fizzled out! But don't be too complacent they are still going to vaccinate you against it! Like it or not!

Julia is OUR AUSSIE ‘Obama’ Mamma!

This woman is a real looney! Obviously she has a secret money printing organsaition, hidden from public view. Whatever happened to her party line about getting us out of debt ASAP? while all she is doing is proposing to spend spend spend!!!! She is offering all kinds of incentives to get the vote!

Whatever happened to her parties clear the debt ASAP.... all she is proposing to do is spend spend spend....... Aussies don't want to or need to go down the same political nightmare path that the USA is traversing, so why try and imitate Obamma Mamma Julia?

Arghhhh she of all people should know – after all she advertises her hard working family background, that there are people in Australia who just cannot afford new cars, and struggle to keep what they have roadworthy and registered.

We are pensioners, we are single parents, we are family people just making ends meet from pay to pay…. her ‘bright’ (NOT) scheme is out of the reach of ordinary people. Politicians on the other hand can afford it!!!!

Get real Julia…. there is a Santa Claus, but it ain't YOU! and there is no AGW !

Today (Saturday 10 July) is the 15th anniversary of the Greenpeace ship the Rainbow Warrior bombing by French agents. To mark the date, New Zealand On Screen has launched four titles exploring anti-nuclear protest and the politics of New Zealand’s ‘no nukes’ stand.

The movies can be watched online, for free.

When a Warrior Dies – a documentary on the aftermath of the bombing and the efforts by Greenpeace and sculptor Chris Booth to create a remembrance monument.

http://www.nzonscreen.com/title/when-a-warrior-dies-1991

Fallout – excerpts from award-winning Tom Scott and Greg McGee-scripted mini series dramatising events leading to NZ’s 80s ‘No Nukes’ stand

http://www.nzonscreen.com/title/fallout-1994/series

Mururoa 1973 – a landmark Alister Barry doco about protest flotilla who risked their lives travelling to French nuclear testing zone at Mururoa.

A Nuclear Free Pasific – documentary on the long struggle for a treaty to declare the South Pacific free of nuclear arms.

A Taiwanese-flagged vessel, named "A Whale," which is 3 1/2 football fields long and looms 10 stories high - outfitted with 12 vents on either side of its bow, which experts hope will be able to suck up as many as 21 million gallons of oil-tainted water each day in the Gulf of Mexico oil disaster – has offered its services in the attempted clean up.

So will the President Kick Ass and get the permissions needed expediated?

It may be a bonanza for the small number of multi-national PV panel builders but it's also the death knoll of the small UK renewable design and manufacturing businesses. I have fought hard for the bespoke hydro industry including the use of traditional waterwheels, but to no avail. It's mass produced imports or nothing as far as this Government is concerned. This whole 'accreditation' scheme has been used as a stick to make the 'small guys' stand in line or get out. They have even demanded compliance with EU directives that contain exemptions for hydro power! This is 'Red Tape' gone mad. I thought after years in the business us pioneers would at least get a pat on the back, not a knife!

Thank you for your interest. I would just like to correct the first sentence in your story. The plastic does not produce microbes - instead, microbes from the wider environment become attached to plastic. These microbes could be able to break down potentially dangerous chemicals that have become associated with the plastic, so the microbes may actually "clean up" plastic instead of making it more dangerous. Finally, I studied the seabed environment instead of plastics that float.

Rush to Judgement!

It's the FIRST well of a multi well campaign drilling for three companies in several areas.

We don't even have all the results in.
It was press speculation by the Sunday Times that forced a hurried and incomplete RNS out of the company yesterday.

There will be another - completed one - very shortly.
Probably this week.

I think we need to wait for much more information before announcing a failed campaign -
or even a failed well.

Sued? How did you get that out of what IDA sent to USDA? Did you read the UPI story before you posted it? It isn't a suit. IDA wrote a letter of complaint to USDA. You headline is almost as absurd as IDA's action.

Enagic's new e-newsletter is filled with information about the benefits of Kangen Water. Enagic has been the industry leader, with the highest quality ionization equipment, for over three decades. Kangen Water can improve energy and health because it's highly alkaline and filled with antioxidants.

Very interesting! What would it take to retrofit an older home to have many of these same energy efficiency ideas? I know that we installed a skylight last fall as well as a solar-powered attic fan (to draw out excess heat from the attic space during summer). We've put in low-wattage fluorescent lamps and we're now looking at upgrading our insulation this summer.

When you don't have hundreds of thousands of dollars on hand to completely rebuild and make an energy efficient home, what do you do?

We’ve put in low-wattage fluorescent lamps and we’re now looking at upgrading our insulation this summer.

When you don’t have hundreds of thousands of dollars on hand to completely rebuild and make an energy efficient home, what do you do?

SANTIAGO, Chile, March 3 (UPI) — Chilean President Michelle Bachelet faces growing criticism that her government’s response to last week’s earthquake was too little, too late, observers say.

In a radio interview, Bachelet said she resented the allegations against the government, The New York Times reported Wednesday.

“Everyone claims to be a general after the war,” she said.

Such accusations, Bachelet said, were inflaming public anxiety — which she called “collective psychosis” — threatening to create countrywide instability.

SALT LAKE CITY, March 3 (UPI) — An international team of paleontologists says it has discovered a new species of dinosaur-like animals called Asilisaurus kongwe.

The first bones of the new species — part of a newly recognized group known as silesaurs — came from the Triassic Period in Africa and were found in 2007, scientists said.

The team — including included Randall Irmis, curator of paleontology at the Utah Museum of Nature History — said Asilisaurus falls just outside of the dinosaur family tree. The species lived approximately 10 million years earlier than the oldest known dinosaurs.

Fossil bones of at least 14 individuals were recovered from a single bone bed in southern Tanzania. The researchers said the species stood about 1.5 to 3 feet tall at the hips, were 3 to 10 feet long and weighed about 22 to 66 pounds. They walked on four legs and most likely ate plants or a combination of plants and meat.

“The crazy thing about this new dinosaur discovery is that it is so very different from what we all were expecting, especially the fact that it is herbivorous and walked on four legs, Irmis said.

The discovery that involved scientists from the University of Texas at Austin, the Burke Museum and the University of Washington in Seattle, the Field Museum in Chicago, the Iziko South African Museum and Germany’s Humboldt University appears in the journal Nature.

STONINGTON, Conn., March 4 (UPI) — Police in a Connecticut town are warning residents to be wary of an aggressive red-tailed hawk blamed for at least five attacks on humans.

Stonington police Capt. Jerry Desmond said the attacks date back to the summer and the latest incident involved the bird of prey cutting the side of a woman’s head with its talons, The Day, New London, Conn., reported Thursday.

“We’re concerned because the bird seems to be becoming more and more territorial,” Desmond said.

Kathy Baker, the woman attacked by the hawk Tuesday, said she was released from the hospital after the cut to the left side of her head was cleaned and she was given a tetanus shot.

“I know the people it’s happened to so I thought it might happen to me sooner or later,” Baker said. “I just hope they can do something to get rid of it.”

Superintendent of Schools Leanne Masterjoseph said children will be kept inside during recess until the situation is resolved.

Animal Control Officer Rae-Jean Davis said officials have no plans to kill the bird, but they may move its nest to an area further away from humans.

“It’s in a bad area,” she said.
